How it began

The Zion Climbing Coalition initially called the “Zion Climbers Collective” was formed after a community event on July 19th 2019 in Springdale, UT. The event was a combination of Zion climbing notables, park staff and a room full of people that share a passion for rock climbing in the park.

An open forum discussion highlighted the communities support of creating a coalition, and in 2019 the Zion Climbing Coalition was formed.

Shortly thereafter, the ZCC partnered with the Southern Utah Climbers Alliance as a local chapter and the Access Fund as a local climbing organization (LCO).

Mission

The Zion Climbing Coalition seeks to preserve climbing access and promotes a healthy relationship between Zion National Park and surrounding climbing areas for the climbing community through stewardship, inclusivity, education and collaboration. The Zion Climbing Coalition acts as liaison between the climbing community and the National Park Service.

Vision

Our vision is to provide the climbing community and Zion National Park a path for communication and collaboration to help create a lasting and sustainable future for climbing within Zion and the surrounding climbing areas.
